Hi Sue, and everyone
Hope everyone is well, and just busy
Only 2 more days, and we will be on the train to Montreal :-)
I'm busy trying to get my stuff together ....... I let OH sort himself out :-D
We have 1 small case and a bag between us for the 4 days on the train, and 1 case to be checked ........ with the clothes etc for Montreal and then the return home
We will have the laptop with us .................. but I have no idea what the WiFi situation will be. Certainly not on the train for most, if not all, the journey.
The weather looks as though it will be hot in Montreal
Then we're back for 3 days, before going up North for about a week
I'll try to post before we leave, but I think it will then be a case of me popping in as and when ............... so don't worry unless you haven't heard for a month :-)
take care everyone

Glad to hear your OH is feeling slightly better.
You are right garden is keeping me busy and the rain and warmer weather means the grass is growing at an alarming rate plus weeds.
Nikki is getting me just where she wants me. They have a cat flap but prefer me to open the front door. Now Nikki sits at the front door and cries to be let in. If I am slow she climbs up the door and hangs from the letter box. I love them dearly and regard them like naughty children.
Found the D Day ceremonies immensely moving. We owe them so much.

Morning all
Hope everyone is keeping well & enjoying the lovely weather.
Feeling a lot better now - bubble in eye is going but very slowly - have another 2 weeks off work - with a bit of luck it will be gone before I return to work as its very hard to concentrate with it bouncing about.
The only thing I can liken it to is one of those water bubble compasses you use to get in the car - every time it went over a bump it bounced in the water & took ages to settle down - went for a ride in the car & it made me feel travel sick - first time ever.
Shadow loves me being at home & is demanding more attention.
I did write a little story about him on here the other day - took ages to type & then he jumped on my lap & I lost the lot. So gave up
I see there is an update on Evelyn's thread - looks very interesting
Take care everyone

Hi everyone
Not been around for a while as I have been so busy with family and the likes ,just not enough time in the day lately.
It is my Dads 86th Birthday today ,he is doing well for his age and the fact he has two knee replacements and one hip replacement,we call him the Bionic Man.
Glad to hear you are all well ,and at last there may be some news for Evelyn...must check that out later.
Anne I am happy to hear your eyes are getting better, they can be very annoying things to get operated on ,mine are not too bad now ,time seems to fix it .
Our weather has turned very cold the last month and plenty of rain to go with it ,when I say cold I mean between 6-8 c for the night ,to some of you that is not cold but to us it is.
Have not been following Soccer ,good job anyway the Aussies are out already and so is England last time I looked,a bit to much cheating for my likings in Soccer,I like a fair game.
I am off for a nice hot bubble bath, warm up the bones :-D
My love to you all <3 :-D

My first day back at work tomorrow - its gone very fast & only last week did I start to feel better. At least its a graduated return for a couple of weeks or so.
I hope everyone is keeping well
Shadow wont be very happy as he has had me home with him for over 4 weeks now - still never mind he will be fine.
Five years ago I first joined this thread & it was so busy all the time - it was one of the only things that kept me going through 2 major operations - this time its been so quiet. Strange what a few years can make.
Take care all

Hi Sue, and everyone
we're back from our various trips .................... we have spent only 3 days at home between June 10 and yesterday, July :-)!
We had a good trip north this past week.
The celebration went well ................ about 20-25 people turned up to help drink to my sis-i-l ...........
.......... although they didn't make that much impression on the 44 bottles of wine that her children had found in the liquor "cupboard" :-D
The spreading of the ashes took place on June 30 ....................... the "kids" managed to borrow a special all-terrain vehicle type of thing that could get me from the parking area up the very steep path to the top of the knoll where the action was to take place. We all found our own little private spots to place some of the ashes, under trees and shrubs.
We as a family also ended up spending several hours on both Sunday and Monday in the Emergency ward of the local hospital.
First of all, my daughter needed treatment on Sunday .................. she is now OK and went home as planned on Tuesday
Then OH had to go in on Monday with bad gut pains .................... ultrasounds, ECGs and x-rays finally showed that he has a hernia in his diaphragm that has allowed some of his stomach to move up into his chest, and will need an operation to correct it. They administered quite a few doses of morphine to get the pain down, and then released him
He slept well that night
It has apparently been developing for several years ..................... now he is on small frequent meals until he can see his GP and get referral to a specialist.
He will be phoning the GP tomorrow to get an appointment with them ASAP, and we'll have to see how it goes from there.
There seems to have been quite some strife on the Boards while I've been away ........... glad I missed it :-)
take care everyone

Hi Everyone
Sylvia it is nice to have you back .
I am glad all went well with your trip and your OH is going to be on the mend ,a friend of mine has not long had a hernia done in her stomach a very large one and she has had all the trouble in the World she is still very sick.
I hope your OH gets his fixed better than my Friends ,I thought for a while there we may loose her ,it was that bad.
I did not see anything on the boards over the last week or so but then I have been doing my tree and not getting involved like i used too :-( to stressfull.
Got a lot of my tree done over the last few weeks and with a lot more records coming online with Ancestry I am doing well..
We are all so cold over here now ...fire has not gone out for weeks :-)
Must go get dinner on.
Love to you all <3

Hi Sue, and everyone
OH saw the GP yesterday afternoon re the stomach problem. The decision is ........................... do nothing!
He has to be careful about eating several small meals and snacks a day, drink more water and juice than he usually does, and has to eat slowly.
It seems that an operation may cause even more problems and can have very serious side effects. So, doing nothing is the best treatment
He also heard early this morning that his colonoscopy scheduled for noon on Tuesday .................
has been delayed
It is now scheduled for September 16 at 7 am
We take this as a sign that it is not urgent :-)
We made reservations on the ferry yesterday to go to the Island later next week to visit our friend. We haven't been over there since Christmas :-(
take care everyone

Hope you are right about delay in test. It will be nice to see your friend again.
I am investigating my mother's line and have become frustrated using Search on Ancestry. I am looking to establish the death of my 2 x Gt Grandfather's daughter Ann Palmer nee Freeman.
Ann was born in ST Luke, Middx to Samuel Freeman. She married Charles Palmer in 1869. She was alive in 1887 and was a executor/trustee of her father's will.
When searching on Ancestry.co.uk and specifying English records, I get a list of over 205,000 records - mostly US and useless.
I have raised a query with Ancestry, but wonder if anyone has a solution.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Sally
Weather is excellent, but had to watch the cricket - so many records broken. Would have loved Jimmy Anderson to have become first number 11 to score a hundred.
Will now go into the jungle I call my garden where my cats will sit attentively whlst I weed.

Many many thanks.
I had put England as the collection but still got the US results.
I am intrigued by the daughter of Ann - also Ann - who is a Professor of Music at 20.
Will now try to kill them off :-)
