Hello everyone. Ouch...I felt that Reece.....don't elbows hurt when banged?? :-S

All High Street seem to be suffering at the moment but I see that Mary Portas (British shopping guru) is trying to bring a spark of life back to some of them. I do try and support my local shops when I can but, like everyone else, it's so easy to pop to the supermarked and get most things there...... :-(

Yes, it was Palm Sunday yesterday and this week is Holy Week.....lots of services so I shall be hithering and thithering as and when. I love Easter - it's my favourite festival of the year. :-D :-D

We've been forecast the possibility of snow this week :-S do hope it doesn't arrive.

My once poorly friend goes home this afternoon.....it will be over 12 months since she lived there and, before that, she was too poorly to remember much. It's going to be quite a shock to her system I think.

Better go and get some ironing done.

Thinking of Evelyn and Robert.......Love to all .... Cx. <3

Tabitha Report 3 Apr 2012 13:49

Thank you for the kind thoughts Reece - hope the elbow is better now.

There are loads of people pottering around our local shops but not really buying anything as its all very expensive.

I went to the local Co-op and it was a lot more expensive than ASDa for a lot of things. When OH was sick & i only had the local shops that day as we had come home very suddenly - it cost so much more than a trip to the supermarket.

Cynthia - it is a busy week - i love Easter too its like a new start - i went to the Emmerdale villiage at Easter & it was so beautiful - same as when we went to France - loads of decorated crosses and they all had daffodils planted at their feet with little gifts - and these were at theside of the road too - imagine if we did that here - it would all be vandalised in no time. Over there they looked lovely.

Hope your OH is getting on well with the new meds.

Flying visit as we have a team meeting at 2.

Quite enjoying the Titanic mini series

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi everyone, Easter Blessing to you all
Sorry it's been a while,

been busy playing in my various Family Tree

As well as my Main tree here on Genes I have small trees covering OH'S family and my Father's Dutch family on 'The My Heritage Site'

and on Ancestry I have a small one for my Maternal Grand father

and am one of over 25 Editors on a Website created by an extremely distant cousin of OH'S from Scotland that I met here on 'Genes' she started it as a legacy Project as she was dying of Cancer.
Sadly she passed away we believe about Jan last year. But the Tree is a massive collaboration which keeps growing.

My work situation has improved slightly, in that I will be getting some fixed contract work doing Telephone Research around the end of April .

Also I hope to be going on a 9 week Admin Skills Course with a very good chance of a Job at the end of it.
The course starts on the 16th so am waiting at the moment for a Phone call to say that I have been accepted for it.

Now that OH is out of work also, suddenly I have been recognised by the Government Welfare system and they are offering me assistance in trying to find work.
Women in NZ may have been the first to get the Vote. But Married women in this Country are still treated as second class citizens when it comes to Government services and financial matters :-(

On a brighter note I am having a busy Easter, my Daughter took me out for Coffee and Cake Yesterday. My Son has bought me at ticket to go to and see TITANIC 3D :-) to night.
Tomorrow I will be going to a Jewish Seder [Passover] meal. Then on Sunday it will be Church.

Am looking forward to The Titanic mini series which starts here on Fri 13th
it is the one written by the guy who did 'Downton Abbey. Is it the same one you are watching Ann?

Take care everyone do not eat too much Chocolate :-D

:-) :-) :-) <3 <3 <3 Josie

Cynthia Report 6 Apr 2012 11:42

Ooops. Didn't realise it had been so long since I had posted on here....have been involved in a......er.....shall we say 'discussion' on another board..... ;-)

The addtional meds my OH has been given have certainly boosted his mobility.....he seems to be 'on the go' for longer. Still has slow spells but not quite as severe as they were. I don't know how long the effect will last but am grateful for what we have so far. Will face the non-effectiveness when we come to it.

Talking of the flowers by the road Anne reminded me of the local methodist church up the road from me. They put a plain wooden cross outside the church today I think and then, on Sunday, it is covered with brilliantly coloured flowers....probably brought by the congregaton. I can't recall there being any vandalism so far......hope there never is.

Good to hear from you again Josie......and to know that your work situation is improving.........hope it all works out well for you. :-D

I've been trying to do some tidying up my tree(s) and it's amazing how quickly time passes....... :-S

My poorly friend went home last Monday and has settled in well. She has help 2 or 3 times a day but, to be honest, it may be possible for her to cut that down somewhat.

Amazing when I think of what she was like two years ago. It's almost as though two years has been wiped from her life and she is now having to readjust to her home without her husband - but she is doing just fine... :-D

Had better go....church this afternoon and I need to sort out some lunch.

Love to all.....Cx <3

Josie - fantastic news all round for you - its lovely to have you back with us. Slight clash on the religion front there - passover & Easter service.

Yes titanic the mini series - its the same one - we have it over 4 weeks here - 2nd episode was a lot better than the 1st weeks one. I think I would have preferred the story just to have a beginning - middle & end - not 4 of each. I think it will ge quite good.

Fantastic day - sunshine and blue sky - but very chilly

Cynthia - glad the meds are helping - your OH must feel a lot better now he can do more.

Still missing Evelyn - hope she is ok

We are missing quite a few people at the moment.

Healing thoughts to Evelyn & Mrs Robert.

Easter blessings to all on the thread.

Take care <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Happy Easter to all on the thread

Very wet here today - we do need the rain - its been very light so everything is drenched which is good.

Its the Brighton marathon today - I feel sorry for them in this rain and its still rather chilly.

Fantastic pictures of the Pink Moon over new york - showing on the General chat inbox - under Passover.

Shalom - to all celebrating the passover as well as Easter blessings to all on the thread - May peace be ours this Easter and throughout the years to come.

Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Ann there is no clash on the Religious front,
The Jews were required to sacrifice an unblemished lamb, at Passover. in remembrance of their life's being spared when the Angel of Death Passed over.
At Easter Christians remember Jesus a Jew who became the Sacrificial Lamb, that by his death we might have everlasting life.

The Passover is not just Israel's Feast it belongs to the whole Church both Jew and Gentile, The early Celtic Christians understood this and celebrated until they where forbidden in 1582 by A law put into place in England by the Catholic Church.

Blessing to you all this Easter.

Happy Easter my friends. Such a special time of year but the weather isn't anything special to be honest.

I've been busy with church and so forth - good attendances at all services - and there were a lot of services....... :-D

My children seem to think I like chocolate..........wonder where they got that idea from?????? ;-) I seem to have ended up with about a dozen Easter eggs............................one happy bunny here...... :-D

Haven't heard from Sue for a little while....hope everything is okay with her eyes.......... :-S

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

It will take me a while to catch up with all the posts I have missed.

Still no readers at the moment and I can't go and get tested for them until 18th of April ,that is when my drops stop ...so I have a little time to go yet before I can get my readers.

My eyes are good and I can see well ,I have a slite dark line on the outside of my left eye ..hoping that goes away with time ..

See my spec-ists again in four weeks so I guess time will tell ....feeling a bit down today as this has been going on to long for me and I miss reading the paper in the morning.
I realy miss my computer as it takes me ages to post this message with the mag glass.

I hope you are all keeping well .
Robert my thoughts are with you and your wife.

Cynthia ..glad to hear your friend has settled in again Ok.

I send my love to you all and will get back again tomorrow.

Sue lovely to have you back with us - it will get better with time.

After my 3rd op I went into deep depression as you know - It does take it out of you.

Had my eye check up on Saturday - He thinks its wonderful - as a lot of the scar damage has gone now - and is amazed how well everything still is - saw a 3D image this time - one of those new machines - it is very strange when looking at the difference in the two eyes - one normal - one showing all the scars inside the eye & you really can see the difference.

Its like looking at a geological survey all different colours. you can also see all the work the laser did on the eye - at least he is pleased - I am too sometimes - at least he explained why sometimes its a bit blurry - something to do with the heavy oil I had and me lying down for a long time.

Lovely sunny day today - total difference to yesterday it rained all day

At least it feels like spring now.

take care all <3 <3 <3 <3

Hello everyone

we really did have a lovely weekend ................ every day was sunny and quite warm for the time of year.

It was cloudy today (Tuesday), and I think rain is in the forecast for Wednesday.

I don't remember having that much trouble when I had my cataracts done ............... but it was before I had internet access, so I wasn't trying to be on the computer. But I did read books and the newspaper after the 2nd or 3rd day.

Different specialists, different techniques I suppose.

I do hope that you get your readers soon Sue!

I went to have my hair cur today ...... it's a little shorter than I wanted!

We are away for one night ....... our close friend turns 80 on Thursday, and there is a dinner that evening, so we will be going over to the Island for the night.

Unfortunately, he has much deteriorated in the last year, due to a dementia setting in. It's rather like dealing with a small boy at times ............... and is driving his wife (a couple of years older) to distraction. They only married 33 years ago, neither having been married before ......... so she doesn't even have that prior experience of handling a small child.

We will bringing her brother and his wife back on the ferry with us ........... and I am sure there will be some discussion while we enjoy the sea trip.

Thinking of Robert's wife xxxxx

take care

Hi Everyone

Sylvia
I have no idea why my eyes are taking so long to get back to normal ,my spec tells me I am doing fine and all is going to plan .

I have always needed readers as well as everyday glasses since I was very young .
My sight got so bad that is why they decided to do my cataracts at mid range so they could put script lenses into my eyes so I would not end up with milk bottles for my glasses ,I also have Glaucoma so I suppose it all has something to do with the healing process..
It gets better everyday , I should have my readers within a week of being tested I hope (18th April).

So sad to hear about your friend with Dementia,I used to work in a nursing home for the elderly and most of the residence had Dementia. I was so surprised at how fast it progresses.
It is a very cruel disease.

It is very warm today ,we are all waiting for the winter rains to come should not be to long now .

Robert and Evelyn my thoughts are with you both..

Love to everyone.

Hello friends.

Poor Sue, it sounds like you are having a really rough time with your eye probs. Hopefully, all will be resolved soon and you will be able to enjoy things again.

Have a good weekend Sylvia.....dementia is such a cruel, cruel illness and affects the whole family one way and another. I do hope your friend's wife eventually gets the support she must badly need. Coping by herself must be so very, very difficult for her.

Have been fairly busy this week what with Easter and everything and, fortunately, the new meds which have been added to my OH's 'package', are really helping and he was able to do a bit more than usual.

I had an interesting day yesterday when I met up with our very own FBG! She travelled to meet me as she knows I am unable to travel far because of OH. We chatted non-stop for a couple of hours at least and it was very enjoyable and lovely to meet someone from here in the flesh.

I think we have all been wondering how Robert's wife is doing after her recent surgery - it would be lovely to hear from him. <3

Haven't heard from Arthur or Sally for a while.......hope they are okay.

Well, had better move off and browse around.

Will just open another Easter egg first though..... :-D

Love to all....Cx <3

Old Report 12 Apr 2012 20:24

An update on my front garden problem.

I received a 'Signed For' letter from the ENFORCEMENT OFFICER of the Kent County Council HighWay and Transportation dept.
This basically said I had 30 days to reinstate the grass verge. Failure to comply would mean the Council would have it done and charge me,

Angry but inspired I decided to write to my County councillor. Imagine my delight when I found I could send him an email, and absolute delight when I found he is the Deputy Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Waste.

I emailed him this afternoon - my friend said my letter was 'polite and succinct'. I requested an appointment to discuss the problem and his advice on how I might extend the 30 day deadline as I am going on holiday April 30th for two weeks.

Have just had an email asking for my telephone number - he wants to visit and explain the complicated boundary maps - said by the Enforcement Officer to clearly delineate my boundary - it doesn't.

I emailed him and within 5 minutes he rang to fix an appointment - he is coming at 0930 Saturday morning.

I am encouraged that common sense may prevail.

An "FBG" her real name is Viv shje pops on here sometimes - otherewise known as "Fanny By Gaslight" a good friend to all & good researcher - always there when you need her.

Little bit low today - 20 years ago I lost my mum - she had just had her 70th birthday.

100 years ago tonight we lost the Titanic & all those lives lost due to others stupidity & ignorance. May they all rest in peace at last.

Old Report 14 Apr 2012 15:03

Vist by my County Councillor was excellent.

Not sure what the outcome will be, but possible solution could be to put the post and rope fencing across my original boundary (wherever that might be) and leave the remainder as is.

I asked him if he could establish who it was that complained - he will try. Awful to think that a neighbour could be so small minded - you have to take my word for it, but nobody is adversely affected by my action, and I have eliminated an eyesore.

He will talk to the Enforcement Officer to make sure that nothing happens whilst I am on holiday. Parting words "Don't worry about this".

Please excuse my interruption, I only came on to post a request for help, but then I started to read your posts "help us to help you - three". That was about six hours ago. You all had me laughing until I cried and you had me crying with sadness over other things. Thank you all very much it has been a wonderful afternoon.

Regards and good wishes to everyone
