Hello all,
I like your new picture, Sylvia. People do have difficulties with their "new" glasses whenever they are renewed. I do like my varifocals though, so persevere with them, Arthur.
The garden is "springing" into life - I thought you might like to see our lovely magnolia tree!
The estate agent is coming tomorrow with their photographer so I will have to tidy up even more - the cupboard holding the family history is full already! Where to put it all arhh.................
Puzzling over my Chamberlain family still - could anyone on ancestry have a look at Charlotte*S Chamberlain in Northampton and see if there is a place of birth, for me please? The date is apparently shown as July 1843. I could try for her birth record to see if parents' names are there.
Enjoy this lovely weather everyone - hosepipe ban or not.
Love

Reece
I have had varifocals from the first time I needed them - all without a problem.
Visited the opticians yesterday and they adjusted the nose pieces and ear pieces to try to ensure that I am looking through the correct part of the lense - hopeless.
I am now phoning them to arrange an appointment with the optician/optometrist to confirm my problem. This is the first time I have had a prism incorporated - this helps with the 'double vision' effect I get due to one eye being slightly weaker in the vertical plane.
They will then make a pair of varifocals using the same lense material that I had last time.. Apparently the very expensive Zeiss lenses - I was told they would give me a greater area of view - are part of the problem. To get clear vision for computer, reading or distance, my head position has to be just so, with very little latitude.
Should get a refund as the Zeiss lenses were very expensive!
Glad Sue is making good progress.
On the garden front I am waiting for a letter before I take any action. I think it will be Kent County Council, not the Parish Council, that will send the letter - this may make it easier. Only time will tell.

Sorry you are having such a nightmare with the glasses Arthur
Reece - would your Charlotte have James as a father ?
James Chamberlain Birth 10 March 1815 in Stanwick Northampton Death Mar 1853 in Thrapston Northamptonshire
Charlotte S Jul - Sep 1843
There are only freeBMD - not a oot to help you with
Tried the IGI as well - she seems very elusive
If she did have James as a Father - then there is a small tree someone has started - with the name of someone to contact as well.
Will see if I can find anything else for you
Take care all

Hello again,
Thanks Anne, yes, James is her father - they are in the 1851 census for Stanwick, where James is shown as widower, living with his mother Sarah, children Charlotte and Alfred.
I have found a death for an Alfred 1859 at Thrapston which could be his, and Charlotte is living with her Aunt Dinah in the 1861 census Wellingborough but nothing after that.
I will try the GRO for her birth for July/Sept 1843 Northamptonshire and see if they can find a record.
Grateful for your help and thanks again.
Yes, Arthur that would make a difference - special lenses for your particular needs. Hope it all resolves for you as it is a worry you don't really need isn't it?

Susan, lovely to hear that you are enjoying your new good vision. Don't worry about your spelling - I'm sure we can understand you! I don't know how you can juggle a magnifying glass and type at the same time! Well done!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone.

Goodness me - i leave the computer for 24 hours & everyone turns up
Robert lovely to hear from you again - sending healing thoughts to you both.
Sue - so pleased it all went well - you are so brave - agree no worries about spelling or typing errors - just nice to have you back again
I too love magnolia trees - can't get any to grow here - i think we have too chalky soil - my garden is built on an old reservoir - dig down more than a few inches and you find solid chalk - as well as loads of broken glass, oyster & scollop shells - & loads of bits metal.
My Oh needed to dig out the foundations for our shed - (also flatten that bit of the garden). He found all sorts of things, spokes from a wheel, old rubber tyre, headlight bulb, 2 or 3 bits of handle bars and odd bits & pieces from the bike frame - then he tried to pull out the washing line post - it was so far down & so heavy - our neighbour offered help - so the two of them kept digging down - they found springs from a bedstead and more of the bike - the washing line pole was 4 feet down in concrete - neighbour got his hammer drill thingy out and started chopping off the block.
Three hours later they managed to move it - by that time they had found the rest of the bike and the bed. They had to fill the hole back in as well the next day - our neighbour offered to take all the old junk to the tip for us in his camper van. What was going to be a few hours work turned in to all day & part of the next.
We still wonder what on earth is buried in our garden - all we know is it grows wonderful weeds - The Lilac trees love the soil - we have a few daffs (very old ones now) and snowdrops. The roses have all died off now as they were very old too.
Reece - will see if I can find anything else for you
Back in a bit
Take care all

Visited optician today and had a very thorough eye check. Since my first test some 5 weeks ago, the prescription has changed - I no longer neeed a prism in one eye. The optician is excellent and someone I have known over 15 years, so I really trust him with my sight. As a diabetic, I have a retinopathy check by a visiting service at the surgery, but the optician, who I now see annually, does a very thorough check as well. They are going to make new lenses - I wondered if I should change from the Zeiss lenses and even choose a smaller frame - decided I would stick with the Zeiss and the larger frame.
Hope all is sorted before my holiday that starts April 30th.

Hello friends,
Anne, thank you for all of the details on the Chamberlains - I am so grateful to you. I have joined ancestry for a free trial and have sent the owner of the tree in NZ a message. Just hope she replies within 14 days! I have also sent her Sarah's husband's name and the date and place of their marriage. I couldn't see where they fit into her tree but I'll have another look tomorrow. Also GRO replied saying that if I send the name and date and place they will look 3 years either side for me or else they will return the fee. So all I can do is send the place as Northamptonshire plus possible year as in the census returns.
Let me know if I can look up anything for you in return for your kind help.
Love to everyone.

Reece - It was my pleasure - Any time you need help let me know - I will do it if i can - depends on the time day & time.
The 2nd half was from another tree - on your free trial - try inputting Nebuchnezzar Chamberlain - it brings up a lot more trees -
Always try looking for an unusual name - sometimes you hit gold.
Arthur - always good to have a wonderful optician - i have been with mine for years - dread the day he retires - but think he is younger than me.
Cynthia - hows the internet now - did you enjoy your day out?
I have to leave early for the dentist tomorrow - so won't be on air till Sat or Sunday.
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Good to see so much action on here again.
I've been rooting around with my husband's tree and found him some more rellies............he's vaguely interested.......... :-(
Are you going to buy 'Designer' specs Arthur - there are some really swish ones available now..... :-D
My husband is on some additional medication which seems to be helping him and has increased his mobility so that's really good. Long may it last......... :-)
I don't mind going to the dentist Anne, as he has a tv screen on the ceiling and we can watch it whilst he's drilling merrily away....... :-D
Off to do some browsing.........take care......love. Cx

HAPPY APRILS FOOL DAY
I believe today is also PALM SUNDAY
Easter day this time next week -
Time seems to fly so fast these days - On the 20th we will have been together 20 years - seems only like yesterday - also means on the 14th my mum will have been gone 20 years too.
Very strange weather in the South East.
Bright sunshine - very warm through the window - storm clouds gathering around us & bitterly cold outside the house.
You never know what to wear..
Will pop in again later
Take care all

Sally - your picture - how sad
Very few people in my tree or OH tree were in any wars. I suppose we were lucky and didn't lose anyone.
i remember my mum saying the reason she had a French middle name was because her father was in France during the 1st WW - however i can't find any record of service for him - neither can my Military cousin & if he can't no one will.
Another one of those mysteries we will never find the answer to.
Huggs and healing thoughts to Robert & Evelyn
Reece hope things are going well in the big move.
Sue when do you get to see your optician?
Josie - hows the internet job going?
Arthur - any news on the extended garden situation?
That leaves the reat of us all plooding along
Work has been very sparse this last week - everyone going on hols for the Easter break - trouble is it all goes very slowly - and no OT.
Never mind at least i do have a job - could I ask for a few positive thoughts for my OH to get a load more pupils for driving lessons please.
Well better plod off and finish the work I stated a few hours ago.
Take care all <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Hello everyone,
I gave my left elbow a terrific bang today and it is really sore tonight! I had finished cleaning out the old garden shed as well before I banged it! I know I upset quite a lot of spiders, too.
Ann, I have sent off for a birth certificate for one of the children - thank you again for all that information as I tracked down one of the trees on ancestry and found a link that might help me resolve my query.
No 1 Son, who owns a shop tells me business is very quiet on the high street for everyone - the electrical shop manager opposite him says that some days they have no customers at all! The local theatre is suffering, too. It really is very worrying but hope that the warmer weather will bring your OH some pupils.
Sally, yes but I must say goodbye to my garden this summer. Not going till the first week in October.
Good to hear that your OH is responding well to his new medication, Cynthia. Enjoy these lovely sunny days out.
Hope everyone is well, too.
Love to all. Reece <3 <3 <3 <3
