Can anyone suggest another name for' job' . i am having difficulty finding my relation of the same name. one of his brothers were named henry in one census and in the following one he was named william(his middle name). maybe he has two names also! |

In terms of sound alikes, how about Jonas or John? John also seems likely for mistranscriptions of copperplate writing too. There's also Jabez as a biblical similarity. |

Census transcriptions are notorious for errors, both in the way they were written down in the first place and then in the interpretation given by the transcriber doing the computerised index. |

have some census records for my relation 'job wren c.1825. (1851,61and 71 census.) district -ware in hertfordshire. cannot find record in 1841. have a christening record from family search for job wren 1825. he also had a son called job edward wren c.1851. |

I think Job was a name on its own, but could of course be mis-heard and mis-transcribed. |

i too am a little confused,have marrige record for job wren and selina tunbrige 18th november 1844. they appear as a couple from 1851 census onwards. i dont think she could have remarried. however was looking for job wren in 1841 but can find no record of him? |

The only Job born c1825 in Ware on the 1841 census is Job Stamp. After this, there's no sign of him. |

If you want more proof, look for David and Sarah Stamp in later censuses. You'll see Sarah's brother Henry Goodey is living with them in 1851 and and Edward Goodey is there in 1861. |

Thanks so much for all your help so far, one more problem to iron out.... on the family search website records show that at time of marriage to David Stamp , Sarah Wrenn is listed as having no children.there are christening records for job wren(30 Oct 1825)????Skeletons where are you hiding! |
