I am doing my wife's side and i need a bit of help . William Woodward was born in Hindley Lancashire about 1860c he was married to Elizabeth Lucas in 1877 in Leigh the marriage cert has his farther down as William Woodward green grocer . With help on genes
a William was found but it had his farther down as a Robert and wife Rebecca . They were married in Atherton Lancs 1856 and son William born 1860 08c 204 . ? Paul.

This may be your William.

In 1871 he is living with his father Doctor William Woodward...whose occupation is given as Carter.

There may be confusion about Leigh.
There is one in Lanacshire and one in Worcestershire.. The wedding seems to be at the Lancashire one, but there are at least two William Woodwards born around 1860 at Leigh in Worcestershire.

Then he may be one of these two registered in Wigan?....or his birth may not have been registered at all.

I think it's possible that his birth is not registered - it was not compulsory until 1875.

In the 1871 census he has a brother Ignatius who is 8 months old, so born in 1870. I can't find a birth registered for him either.

However, 8 of the 11 children are outside the gap, and there are online transcriptions for their baptismal entries. I also never checked the IGI for submitted entries.
