Limited access to the 1911 census will be possible before the normal release date of 2012 - see the the National Archives's page http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/1911census/
Although the 1911 census as a whole is still 'closed', you can now ask for details of who lived at a specified address. The National Archives can provide you with a copy of the census return for that address, except for any particularly private information about the people living there. ……………………….
There is currently a non-refundable fixed fee of £45 (including VAT) that covers searching for the census return for the address you have specified. If anything is found, a copy will be made and sent to you.

they are worth it in my opinion - (I have three)!!
but then I've always been impatient!

they are A3 in size and the head of the house has filled the answers in - so you actually get your ancestors writing and signature at the bottom!

I would add, vivienne, as a word of caution!
DOUBLE CHECK & CHECK AGAIN BEFORE WRITING THE ADDRESS DOWN!!
It's a lot to pay to get the neighbours!!
