Agnes Ellen was born in 1894 in Lancashire and I think she had a sister who died young. Her brother was William (Billy) Hodgkinson and he married a Francis ?. I think Agnes may have been born in Euxton, Chorley. Any info. much appreciated |

Thanks for quick reply. Guess Chorley would have come under Preston District. I have made a mistake though!!! It was her brother called William and it was he who married a lady called Francis. I do not know Agnes's parents at all so this info. may help |

Not sure as I have so little info. on the family. I do know that William fought in WW1 so maybe 1902 is not him. |

From Army records deduced his correct year of birth is 1888. |

Oooh yes, looks like my William as I know he lived in Euxton which was a very small village at that time. Wigan Road would have been the main road so quite possibly this is he. Only thing is he definitely married a Francis and I don't think she came from Leyland, course I could be wrong, but I am 100% sure of her first name. |

Don't think the records have been mixed up Annie G. On enlistment in 1915, his next of kin was his mother Elizabeth. When he married in 1917, the records were changed by crossing through the Elizabeth and changing it to Ann. |

Could he have re-married a Frances after Ann. Seems too much of a coincidence for there to be two William Hodgkinsons in Euxton, but maybe not. |

A possible death of Ann |

As far as I know they never lived in Leyland, Infact William lived with his parents when he married Francis. Agnes Ellen had lived at the family home until her marriage and then moved into house across the road. The house was in Chorley |

It was Ann (his maybe wife) who was living in Leyland. His address on enlistment was Wigan Road, Euxton. Perhaps she stayed with her parents while William was away ...... |

William and Francis had two daughters, one called Eva who was born c. 1926. This is what makes me thinks that William was only married once but looking back at your comments maybe he was married for a short while before marrying Francis |

You didn't say William had two daughters. If we can find their births we can find maiden name of his wife. What were their names and where were they born, and when (roughly)? |
