I wonder how common it was for someone to add a name but it isn't there official or baptised name |

tried the local paper for obituries? if the death was as tragic as it sounds it may have made local news? or at least some kind of memorial notice put in? |

very !!! i've had to unravel 3 this week in our lot! annie being the prime example, mary ann was her name but she used annie on all official stuff except her birth cert!! just sorted an 'uncle bill' out on my side of the family, turns out his name was archibald! |

hmmm it does happen, try calling the family liason people in the navy, her dad was listed as being in the marines? they may well be able to pinpoint where he was based, there were very few marines back then.... might not be as hard as you think. maybe her birth was not uk? if he was a serving man... she might have been born elsewhere. the military will be better placed to make a more modern association between emily dorothy and benjamin williams |
