Hello, hope you see this message. The ancestors I have from Ashton lived on Currier Lane, which I have been unable to find on the 1861 census. The names of the ancestors were Thomas Sims, his wife was Elizabeth Cummins before they married. They married at St Michaels Parish church .Any pics of Currier Lane or St Michaels church? They would be greatly appreciated |

Hi Kathryn Well Currier Lane still stands today, my children were all baptised at the church on Currier Lane. St Michael's is still the central parish church for the area although the graveyard was removed to create a bypass and a roundabout a number of years ago. Let me know whether you have any numbers for Currier Lane. I don't have any pics of Currier Lane but can easily take some for you. I'm sure that I have a few of the church, all my 'local' ancestors were married and baptised there too! Lou |

Lou you are a star ! I have the birth certificate of one of their children and the death certificate of another, but all it says is Currier Lane,no number. The period they lived there was between 1854 and 1863 after then they emigrated to Australia. Are there any houses that old on Currier Lane today ? If not I would be ever so grateful for just a general picture if you are sure it is no trouble. I shall send you my email address.thank you ,Kath |

Lou, Only address I have is for George when he was widowed and living as a boarder at the house where he was to die in 1867, 91 Catherine Street, Ashton under Lyne. His kids were Ellis (male), James, Henry, John, Amelia and Hannah. As far as I know Amelia died without marrying, and Hannah married Thomas Strange Norton. Thanks, Maggie |

My ggrandfather worked as a Hatter on Hyde Road in Denton for 20+ years, Grannie as well before she went nuts! Denton was where dear Daddy was born. So quite probably, any particular time period? |
