My ggrandfather worked as a Hatter on Hyde Road in Denton for 20+ years, Grannie as well before she went nuts! Denton was where dear Daddy was born. So quite probably, any particular time period? |

Lou, Only address I have is for George when he was widowed and living as a boarder at the house where he was to die in 1867, 91 Catherine Street, Ashton under Lyne. His kids were Ellis (male), James, Henry, John, Amelia and Hannah. As far as I know Amelia died without marrying, and Hannah married Thomas Strange Norton. Thanks, Maggie |

Lou you are a star ! I have the birth certificate of one of their children and the death certificate of another, but all it says is Currier Lane,no number. The period they lived there was between 1854 and 1863 after then they emigrated to Australia. Are there any houses that old on Currier Lane today ? If not I would be ever so grateful for just a general picture if you are sure it is no trouble. I shall send you my email address.thank you ,Kath |

Hi Kathryn Well Currier Lane still stands today, my children were all baptised at the church on Currier Lane. St Michael's is still the central parish church for the area although the graveyard was removed to create a bypass and a roundabout a number of years ago. Let me know whether you have any numbers for Currier Lane. I don't have any pics of Currier Lane but can easily take some for you. I'm sure that I have a few of the church, all my 'local' ancestors were married and baptised there too! Lou |

After 10 years of searching I found out I am related by marriage to the Saville family of Ashton under Lyne - Amelia Saville born 1821 was the first name I found, but couldn't work out how she fitted into my family, until I found that her sister Hannah married the brother of my great great grandmother. The Savilles have an impressive family history at www(.)familysearch(.)org If there are any pictures of the Savilles I would be very interestested to see them. Thanks, Maggie P.S. In about 1833, the family were in Dukinfield. |

Hi Hilary Yep, got some shots of Saddleworth and Uppermill including ones of the station. I actually go up there quite regularly, both places are absolutely divine. Need to win the lotto to LIVE there, mind you, but they have some wicked craft shops and a lot of the original mills are still standing but have been converted into either apartments or craft centres. Ok, I'm rambling now......I can always take my camera the next time I go up if there's anything in particular you would like! Lou |

Lou, I don't like to ask as I live in Australia, but I'm wondering if you have any pictures of Bombay Street, Ashton under Lyne. My Ibbotson branch lived there in 1881. I would love to see any photos of the area. Let me know if you are willing to send them if I pay the postage. Susan |

Hi Lou, I am trying to find any more info on a Ralph and Elizabeth Clough who were marr. Jan 21 1821 in Lancashire and had 2 children that I know of. 1. Ralph b. 1829 who married a Jane Hulley Jan.16 1848 at Manchester Cathedral. Before arriving in Australia in 1864 they had 4 children. Daniel (b. 1849), Mary Ann (b. 1952), Elizabeth A. (b. 1861) and James Henry (b. 1863). I've been in contact with the Hulley side and they cant give me much more than I already have. 2. Ann whose birth is unknown but married a John Mellor Matley 19 Nov 1843 at Ashton under Lyne. I have been in contact with descendants of one their daughters but again it doesn't leave me any the wiser as to the Clough Ancestors. Hope you can help. Cheers and thanks in advance, Graeme |

Kevin There's some brilliant shots of Penny Meadow in the late 1800's. Barely recognisable to how it is now. And the Albion School on Penny Meadow which was the only one from 1860 to 1904 in that area so ALL the kids went there! Lou |
