Hi.. Can anyone please help me, find the details of the death of my Grandfather, FREDERICK HENRY GEORGE. He died in London or Manchester in a motorcycle accident in 1927!....He was decapitated!! I dont have a death certificate!!.. I'm hoping that, as there can't have been that many motorcycles on the road then, it may have been recorded in the news?! will be grateful for any help Many thanks Val |

Hi, You need to narrow down the date. You can search newspapers in the Colindale library but you need a date of death to start or it could take forever. Gwynne |

Have you been unable to find an entry in the death indexes for him? I'd certainly see if I could get the death cert, it would say whether there was an inquest or not and you'd have a specific date to search the newspapers. I would think there were lots of motorcycles around in 1927. My own uncles had an accident on a motorbike in the early 1930s, as a result of which they were both lamed for life. nell |

Val If your guy died at the end of 1927 his death could have been registered Mar quarter of 1928. nell |

No problem Nell, Dad and his sister where always brought up knowing that was how he died!!!!! I have also followed this other man up, and I'm afraid I was starting to wonder if they where the same man, but leading 2 lives!! I feel realy guilty, having these doubts!!! Val |

You mean that's the family story. Maybe it isn't entirely true... or perhaps it happened in a different year. nell |

You seem to have alot of coincidences there with the other man. Is there anything about addresses or informants that could link to your family? |

Could be that the same man had a motorcycle accident BUT it wasn't that that killed him! S:> |

Are you and David Manwaring researching the same person: Brickwall I am looking (assisting a fellow researcher) for the birth record (or any record!) of a gentleman- Frederick Henry George. He may have been born in Australia C1881, I have checked(and had it checked) the Australian VRI but no luck. I have also checked service records in both Australia and UK and to date no luck. It is known that after WW1 he married and settled in England. Would his marriage cert provide much info. I would suspect that the other researcher may have gone down the marriage track... Any suggestions greatly appreciated. |

Hi Just thought you might need putting in touch with each other if this was a bizarre co-incidence!!! Had a thought re: the fact that FHG has 3 "first" names ... maybe his death cert got registered with them in the wrong order ... so may be down, for example, George Frederick Henry. Only thought that when I went to fill in a census search form surname first this evening and couldn't find anything because I'd put the names in the wrong order! S:> |
