The thing is, if he was a bigamist, you would expect to find him listed twice. I would be tempted to ring the register office that deals with Edmonton and ask them to check the registers for him. They should do this as they only have to look in one quarter. Kath. x |

well i only knew that he was married to kate hawkings i got this info from either 1837 or bmdindex cant remember which. i requested the certificate of this marriage and when i received it, it was for the marriage between adelaide and richard. When i checked there details thoughit would have been on 1837. |

I'm going to have a look for him in 1901. I looked for Helena in Edmonton 1901, although I realise she may no have actually been there then. She'd be around 17yrs old, I have discounted helena Metcalf & Helena Flint. They did not marry Richard... although it seems half the female population of Edmonton DID! :¬O |

If you were going to commit bigamy, it would be a bit difficult to marry both women in the same 3-month period, wouldn't it? You couldn't marry them both in the register office, surely as the registrar might very likely remember your name and face. If you married in church, it would be risky having the banns called. nell |

Leah, how old was Richard on the 1910 marriage cert? I can see his birth, no one on 1901 corresponds with the age he should be though |
