Let me know how you get on - this is very fascinating. If it's what I think it is I had a distant relative who was in the same in Ireland at the same period. Dear Julie Many thanks for all the info on the Patricks of Kettering. Yes it is so sad to see the ages at which some wives were widowed. I have already obtained copies of his service record from the National Archives at Kew. Fascinating records. I didn't have any info for John so thank you for that.
