Hi, I'm trying to find the parents of William Brookes b. 1868 in Rowley Regis, Staffs....on the IGI it gives his father's name as Samuel, but I have a birth cert.for William and to me it looks like Daniel...not Samuel ....because of the handwriting I wondered if it's been entered incorrectly. Are you able to check the original 1881 census document to decide. Thanks Gill

Gill, this one is a puzzle. Because Willaim was born in 1868 I looked at the 1871 census, There his father was Daniel, I then checked the 1881 census and he was Samuel. For a further check I looked at 1891 and he was Daniel again. There is no mis-transcriptions. Here are the entries. If you would like to see the images let me have your email on Messages. Hi Sheila! I am looking for more information on the Blacklaw family in Scotland. It will more than likely be in Linlithgow. I need the 1871, 1881, and 1891 census returns for Alexander Blacklaw (c. 1844), his wife Jane Davie (c. 1843) and their daughter Margaret Blacklaw (c. 1873).
