When and where did he die? Have you looked at the newspapers on here?

John Crang Chorley or John Crang of/at Chorley?

I am not sure when he died. I have him in Barnstable on the 1901 census.

I didn't know there was newspapers on here. So I will have to look into that.

Greyghost His name is John Crang Charley. His parents were John Charley and Jane Crang.

Sorry I didn't realse I had put Chorley. The chorleys are a different part of my tree so Its quite confusing.

Are you perhaps seeing the record which is appears to be of the death of William Gerald Rowe?

Although, 1950 seems rather early for John to be openly the spouse of Gerald - must be a mistranscription.

John Charley married Jane Crang 22 Mar 1836 in Combe Martin, Devon

They baptised John Crang Charley 21 Jul 1838 in Combe Martin (Father a Yeoman)

Also a Mary Charley baptised 17 Dec 1836

This looks like him in 1841 with Mary but with ? Grandmother or even Gt Grandma?

So I think I have got myself sorted.
John Charley was born 1838/9 and died in 1909 in Lynton Devon
Jessie his wife was born 1857 and died in 1950.

Definitely born 1838.
His birth cert will tell you his exact DOB:

The wife’s DoB was 14 Oct 1856 as per 1939 register
