I have Elizabeth Jackson dau of William and Dorothy
She was bapt 10.10.1841 Ambleside Westmorland
In 1851 census she appears with her parents at Chapel Hill, Ambleside.
I don't have her in '61 or '71 census
She marries Thomas Pennington 28.5.1874 in Ambleside then they move to Dalton in Furness where they live out their lives.
Can some kind person look up the '61 and '71 please? I've failed with familysearch.

Hawkshead was in Lancashire pre-1974.
Ambleside has never been in Lancashire, as far as I know.
In 1841 census the parents and first child seem to be in Grasmere. Elizabeth was baptised later in the year, born after the census. Plenty of opportunity for the family to be living elsewhere, or Elizabeth born at a relatives house?

I think there's more than 1 family here.
Those parents William Jackson and Dorothy Thompson, married 1839, listed in the 1841 census with 1 son b maybe 1839.
I have a baptism recorded for an Elizabeth Jackson 10.10.1841 in Ambleside.
Will have another look tomorrow, my head is hurting now!

The date of Elizabeth's baptism isn't necessarily an indication of her birth year. Children were often baptised several years after their birth - sometimes as a job lot with siblings.
Did you notice the possible 1871 census I posted for Elizabeth?
The William who married Dorothy Thompson is definitely Elizabeth's father - he's a chaise driver at marriage, as in the 1851 and 1861 censuses - and of course Elizabeth's with them in 1851.
John Jackson in the England & Wales, Christening Index, 1530-1980 Name: John Jackson Gender: Male Christening Date: 6 Oct 1839 Christening Place: Ambleside, Westmorland, England Phillimore Ecclesiastical Parish Map: View this parish Father: William Jackson Mother: Dorothy Jackson
??? JACKSON, JOHN mmn THOMPSON GRO Reference: 1839 S Quarter in KENDAL UNION Volume 25 Page 416
But I don't see Elizabeth 1838 in 1841 - at least not if she's William & Dorothy's daughter.
