I am trying to find a connection with this family Cloke & my own. I am related throgh my Grandmother Rhoda Sarah Cloak b 1873 Sale, Aust. d 1959 Sydney. Her grandfather was Richard ovey Cloak 1808 Hythe d 1886 Hobart, Tasmania. He received a "free" trip out in1828 & was eventually pardoned. Any help appreciated. Thank you. Graham Lovegrove, Australia. |

Graham needs to let you know which of the many English Hythes he is referring to. Hythe in Kent is not too far from Rye in Sussex. |

HYTHE in Kent is one of the original Cinque Ports - Rye is associated as a ‘Head’ Port |

We would now know Limpne as Lympne. Again it is in the same area. All these places more or less surround Romney Marsh. Once notorious for smuggling. |

William Noakes Cloak was the Son of Henry (Rye 1816) & Mary Baldick. |

It looks as though there are two groups. One who has always lived in the Folkestone/Hythe area and one that has always lived in Rye. |
