Find Ancestors

Hi,

I have tried every search I can possibly think of but cannot find the birth record I need to order the cert, if anyone has some time I would very much appreciate any help.

Martin Burke born June 1906
Married Mary Tonra in 1936 in Hammersmith (I have this cert, his fathers name is Patrick)
living in Yorkshire in 1939 with wife and in laws.
Death 1986 Yorkshire.

Family think he may have been born in Co. Mayo but this may not be correct!

what is his fathers occupation

@Rootgatherer- yes that is the site I have been using along with Ancestry. I cant find anything that looks correct.

Was his father declared deceased on the marriage certificate or not ? what was Patricks occupation.and who were the witnesses to the marriage.?

This registered birth would tie with a June birth given the 42 days to register,

Patrick was declared deceased on the marriage cert, his occupation was farmer

witnesses were Michael Burke and Elizabeth Tonra

I have looked at the Dewsbury birth but I don't think it can be correct as the 1939 census shows that person with a stepfather but the mothers name is incorrect.

I guess its a possibility, I will ask to see if we know whether Martin had siblings and what their names may have been.

Could there be any clues to famiy members that he gave to any of his children>

In 1901 there are a number of Partick Burkes that could fit the bill by ages for a father who are farmers or farmers sons in Mayo..

Edit ,,,,,,If the marriage was conducted in a R Catholic church the entry will name both of his parents,,kept by the church ...... and if there was a RC church conducted buriel it will also name both of his parents in the chruch register.

Was there a local obituary newspaper entry that gave detaills.

Trying to find out names of other family members, I will update as soon as I find anything.

So I have now been told that Martin had a brother, possibly a twin named Michael. I would imagine that is the Michael who who was the witness as Martins marriage.

None of the Martins whose births are on irishgenealogy.ie, 1904-1908, has the same DOB as your Martin (either 15 May 1906 or 15 June 1906.)
