I was confused about your use of the word "ancestor.". The definition of the word is someone from whom you descend. So technically he was not your ancestor.

To GreyGhost - I never thought to click on the Katherine Butler link in the Wikipedia article! What a fascinating woman she must have been. And to think that it was only twenty years ago that she died; how I wish I'd known about her. So everything now hangs on her sister Beatrice in the hope of finding a living descendant/relative. Unless their father had a sibling who, in turn, may have had children etc.

As many of you know by now, I have so much family 'stuff' that has been handed to me. Much of it I haven't been able to even look at yet but each piece reveals a fascinating and very diverse gene pool!
