I am having difficulty finding the marriage of William Richard Cole to MaryAnn????

William Cole b1828 Bethnal Green, son of James Cole & Ann Allen.

On 1851, 1871 & 1881 Census, William is married to Mary Ann (Marianne in 1851).

They have several children -
Sarah 1848,
William 1850,
Eliza 1860,
Emily 1863,
(Phoebe 1864?),
James 1865,
Edward 1868,
Rosina 1870,
Mary Ann 1873,
Richard 1876,
Margaret 1878,
Ellen 1884.

Phoebe through to Ellen I have found with Mothers maiden name of Ross, all born in Hackney area of London.
I cannot find Sarah to Emily.

Also cannot find any marriage of William Cole to Mary Ann / Marianne or to anyone with the surname of Ross.

Can any please help me with this one??

I can't see the births of William junior or Eliza, with mms Ross.

This is my problem too.
Sarah, William, Eliza and Emily - I cannot find them with MMN Ross either!

Rosina and Emily were baptized same day, 19 June 1870. No birth dates given. Parents were William & Mary Ann, 1 Margaret St. William a shoemaker.

Surely all the children you've named can't have the same Mother - there's a 36 year span !!

As all of the births posted show second forename of Ross, it would seem feasible to suggest that the parents didn't actually marry

There is a TEN YEAR gap between William and Eliza - doesn't make sense if there was only one wife

Where is the 'first' family in 1851 and 1861?

If the age for the wife is accurate, she couldn't have been having children in 1848

1871 Census see earlier post by ArgyllGran.

The 10 year gap mentioned by ErikaH does seem odd with only the one wife.

In both 1851 & 1861, all children are described as Son / Daughter but I guess this isn't strictly accurate at times?
