Yes Rambling, I also feel this is the family, but how strange that their surname is now Lee, the mothers maiden name, wished I could be a fly on the wall to see how that happened , obviously before 1901.

John, I haven't found a marriage so it's my guess they didn't marry but that the children were registered in fathers name anyway. When the couple split Margaret reverted to using her maiden name as did the children who stayed with her. Wish I could find her before 1881 though.

Their first son Robert was born in 1879, so around before the 1881 census, so strange the family not found

John I did look at Scotland's People website but couldn't see a marriage there either.

Thank you Rambling, so no further as to a marriage, looks like a few years age difference between Anthony Bell and Mararet Lee, so perhaps he was a married man. Even unsure exactly where in Scotland Margaret was born so unable to trace her family. What ever the outcome my Pop would have had the Bell blood in him.thats for sure.

EDIT Could be born BarrHead.

Perhaps Margaret Dennison was his true wife. She was described as being a 'lunatic' on the 1881 census. I wonder who Margaret Connor from Scotland is.

Looks like 1871 could be her, her parents must have lived in Durham because she surely wouldn't be in Durham on her own age 12. Another mystery Rambling, see one of her children on the 1901 census was Enock, Lee, found him born Pontefract in 1899 but couldn't find him or mother Margaret on the 1911 census. In 1901 she was in prison in Pontefract. name of Bell been written in.

Enoch in 1911. He is a boarder under L G B, whatever that is.
