It is Robin Thorne again and you have all come up trumps with the correct name which is Rhoda M Yates as some of you have named her. Just for interest my Grandmother died in 1939 leaving my Grandfather Charles Alfred Thorne to live until he was 95. I can confirm the address as I have a copy of his will. I can now investigate onwards how she become with out marriage a Thorne - must be a tale there that I will not get to the bottom of!! As I recall she was not a lady who would have married or have any interest in men. The household was actually Thorne because the Fry side was one of my aunt who did not have children. In the past this site by the way allowed me to trace my half brother in America that I had no idea he existed. Just realised have been doing this under my wife's account. If anyone wants to contact me I am at [email protected]. ;-) |

You have all been helpful about Queenie. As I have said I have taken the details from a very very extended tree which was done by a relation who died in her sixties. I can trace most of the meagers which was a surname passed on as a Christian Name. I am coming to the conclusion that Queenie was taken in as a family member as an act of helpfulness. I do thank you all and as I say I have a tree of all my other relations which runs back to the 1700. |

Robin if Queenie lived in the same house as your grandfather, it may be possible to see who she was by looking at the address on 1939 register or erolls, if you would like to give your grandfather's name and the address someone will look? |

Thank you very much for all the replies about Queenie. As has been suggested that could be her nickname. I know that she lived in the same house as my Grandfather who died aged 95 and I can only assume she was taken into the family as a type of sister to my aunt. The reason I have the death ,is a lady who died a long while ago did a massive search of all my relations which have been proved to be right and I have not included dates which are marked about. Thanks again for all the replies. Robin Thorne |
