This would be his marriage, if the tree has the correct name for his wife:
MCROBERT JAMES MCLEOD MARGARET FINLAY 1916 644/15 245 Hutchesontown
And Margaret's death:
MCROBERT MARGARET FINDLA(y) 83 mms FINDLAY 1977 601/ 518 Glasgow, Martha St
But if they married in 1916, where is Margaret in 1919, when she's apparently not with James at 171 Waddell Street?

Thank you for that yes I've seen the tree on ancestry I'll have a good look into this now the address for George coming over and staying at thistle st matches with his sons address
|
This Glasgow death would fit with his year of birth:
MCROBERT JAMES 64 1957 644/9 291 Tradeston
Spending 6 credits to view the record on SP would let you know if it's him or not - it would give spouse's name, if any.
James, Margaret McL, and Robert McRobert all at 214 Thistle Street in 1955:
James McRobert in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1857-1962 Name: James McRobert Residence Year: 1955 Address: 4178 [ 214 Thistle Street on image ] Residence Place: Glasgow, Lanarkshire , Scotland Parliamentary Division: Glasgow
And all still there in 1957:
Margaret M'l McRobert in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1857-1962 Name: Margaret M'l McRobert Residence Year: 1957 Address: 3823 [ 214 Thistle Street on image ] Residence Place: Glasgow, Lanarkshire , Scotland Parliamentary Division: Glasgow
In 1958 Margaret's there on her own, so it looks like that 1957 death is the right one for James:
Margaret M'l McRobert in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1857-1962 Name: Margaret M'l McRobert Residence Year: 1958 Address: 3710 [214 Thistle Street on image ] Residence Place: Glasgow, Lanarkshire , Scotland Parliamentary Division: Glasgow

Edits (notes there is a William T. 1952, wondered if he was that one in the 1901 (age 6) Census, Father Charles?)
|
That William T who died in 1952, isn't Charles's son. He was born c1889:
MCROBERT WILLIAM THOMAS 63 1952 571/2 3 Newton Mearns

(apologies AG, I should have took notice of that 1920 Passengers posted earlier, I now see William went also!)

I don't see William after 1920.
[ EDIT: Yes I do - this is the correct William below - see further down this post ]
There's a William McRobert from Glasgow going to Nanaimo, BC, in 1924, on the same ship as Charles and family went in 1920, but he has a wife Janet still in Glasgow - and he seems to be slightly younger. Wife's address: 296 (something? Cumberland ?) Street, Glasgow. William going to his cousin, Andrew Thomson, Box 527, Namaimo. Object in coming to Canada: Settling.
William McRobert in the Canada, Ocean Arrivals (Form 30A), 1919-1924 Name: William McRobert Gender: Male Estimated birth year: abt 1898 Birth Place: Glasgow, Scotland Age: 26 Date of Arrival: Jun 1924 Port of Arrival: Quebec Port of Departure: Glasgow, Scotland Ship Name: Sicilian
William McRobert in the U.S., Border Crossings from Canada to U.S., 1895-1960 Name: William McRobert Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Scottish (Scotish) Age: 27 Record Type: Manifests Birth Date: abt 1894 Birth Country: Scotland Arrival Date: Feb 1921 Port of Arrival: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Ship Name: Canadian Pacific Railroad Residence Country: Canada Line Number: 22
I'm guessing this is his marriage:
MCROBERT WILLIAM ANDERSON JANET 1917 644/9 22 Milton
If so, he's not Charles's son, as Charles's son is single in 1920, per the travel record. (But maybe the 1920 record is wrong.)
On the 1921 border crossing record above, there's some sort of note about the ship "Cedric", and Namaimo BC, and New York, added just above William's details, which I can't make out.
That may relate to this record - which gives YOB as c1894:
William McRobert in the UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 Name: William McRobert Arrival Age: 27 Birth Date: abt 1894 Port of Departure: New York, New York, United States Arrival Date: 15 Feb 1921 Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England Ship Name: Cedric Shipping Line: White Star Official Number: 115354
Shop assistant. Country of last permanent residence: Canada.
EDIT:
Yes, that's the correct William above.
When the McRobert family went to Canada in 1920, they were going to Andrew Thomson:
Details on the 1920 arrival record for Charles's daughter Janet.:
Janet McRobert in the Canada, Ocean Arrivals (Form 30A), 1919-1924 Name: Janet McRobert Gender: Female Estimated birth year: abt 1901 Birth Place: Glasgow, Scotland Age: 19 Date of Arrival: Jun 1920 Port of Arrival: Quebec Ship Name: Sicilian
Going to cousin Andrew Thomson, Box 527, Namaimo, BC. Nearest relative in home country: brother James McRobert, 171 Waddell Street, Glasgow.
So the 1920 record seems to be wrong in saying that William was single.

Sister Janet's marriage:

A tree on Ancestry has a nice photo of Robert and Janet Blackburn at a picnic with some other people.

It appears that William came back to Scotland.
The tree on Ancestry thinks the 1917 marriage is the right one, and says this is his wife's death:
MCROBERT JANET MCFADYEN 68 1963 644/4 1549 Springburn
And William's death:
MCROBERT WILLIAM 74 1968 645/1 592 Glasgow
I can't see any record of William's wife Janet ever having gone to Canada.
There are a number of Glasgow ER records of a William McRobert with wife Janet.
For example: Mrs. Janet McRobert in the Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1857-1962 Name: Mrs. Janet McRobert [and William McRobert ] Gender: Female Residence Year: 1928 Residence Place: Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland Parliamentary Division: Glasgow
36 Rhymer Street, Springburn, Glasgow
