I would appreciate help please in finding Edith Florence Walter, at birth down as Florence Ethel Gorvan. born 15th April 1915 Gravesend. Know she married a Jeffrey Samuel Walter 1934 Gravesend Kent. She walked away from the marriage roughly about 1948 ,taking her daughter but leaving her young son behind with father who neglected him and left him to be taken in by any relatives. Ethel Florence was supposed to have gone to Manchester and she was supposed to have married a Vic Carter and had a daughter by him. But family unsure if she did get married. Just unable to find when she died and where but was thought about 1980’s and if she did marry to Vic Carter.unable to find a marriage .Not for the want of trying to find her and where she died. If Ethel Florence put her maiden name also as Carter, there are a number of births in Dartford area between 1939 and 1950s, male and female.

Just reading the OP again , if she took her daughter with her is the whereabouts of the daughter known? Not seeing a birth?

Hi Rambling Rose, I found a birth for the daughter of Jeffrey and Ethel Walter , took a while she was born in 1935 Gravesend but under the mothers name as Gowan .and not .Gorvan. I will look at the Darford births, that being the registration area for Gravesend.

Yes it was R Rose, did I let you know that when I went over to America to stay with the family, over 4rs ago now, ( had 2 heart attacks since then, but hey OK now, it came as a shock after doing a DNA that she was no relative at all to me, but they still want me to be their family, well their mother was taken in by my grandfather so was brought up in my dads house. Such a sad story, , their mother was given to my grandad in the market, very much loved by my family though, so grateful even now with the help you gave me

Sorry to hear about your heart attacks. Yes you did tell me there was no DNA match after all but it's good that family are happy to keep you as family and vice versa:-)

ethel florence was not free to marry vic carter

unless they got a divorce

I wondered if there was a divorce, hence why unable to find a marriage under her name of Walter or even her maiden name of Gorvan if it came to that.. Her son doubted if she had married this Vic Carter, considering she left him at a young age and her husband also cleared off, he didn’t know too much about his parents.
