I don't see births/baptism for either Hugh McFarland nor his sister Catherine (later McMullan).

I've found John and wife Margaret on the 1901 census, looks like both were born c1831, but she is recorded as Gribbon (maybe her maiden name?). Living with them was son Hugh & his wife Mary Ann & their children including Mary Jane. Margaret is a widow (with son Hugh & family) on the 1911 census as McFarland but age is out states 88 rather than 80. Looks like she died in 1917.

Like you I can't find births for Hugh or Catherine to confirm mmn, nor can I find a marriage for John and Margaret.

Rather than start a new thread, I am trying to establish whether a baptism found on Ancestry could be my Hugh McMullan, who named his father as Patrick when he married Catherine McFarland.

I would be grateful for another pair of eyes on this baptism (from Catholic parish registers) to see if anyone can make out the sponsors names please?

Thanks AG, that's more or less what I thought - don't know if it helps though! Hadn't thought of Vincy could possible be Henry, the writing is dreadful.

Think I'll try checking whether there are any more McMullan births with those parents in the same parish
