I've been trying to find this family in 1901 & 1911 census - Thomas Bavis, Louisa Bavis & children Jane (born 1889) and Catherine (born 1891). |

Thanks ArgyllGran, you have been busy. I had no idea about these other children. I have also searched for a marriage for Louisa and Thomas but never found it. I'm assuming they didn't marry. |

Just reading through these posts and noticed on the 1911 census that it says Thomas and Louisa had been married 22 years - by my math that makes them married in 1889. Louisa married John Price Roberts in June 1888 and had daughter Jane in April 1889. It looks like she left JPR very shortly after, but doesn't look like she ever actually married Thomas!! |

I expect Louisa and John Price Roberts just separated but didn't divorce, as was often the case, as divorce was very expensive. |

You're probably right. I'm guessing she was able to marry the third guy because Thomas was deceased and she just said she was a widow. |

I'm adding to this post because I'm trying to find what happened to Catherine Bavis, b 12 April 1891 in Oldham. |
