Thanks Shirley, don't know how I missed that. Catherine's been throwing me for a loop. I found two graves on findagrave site that had me confused. The inscription on one said: In loving memory of FRANCIS BAVIS, the dearly loved son of THOMAS & LOUISA BAVIS who died Feb 19 1932 also THOMAS BAVIS, father of above who died Sept 15 1936 age 39 Also MATTHEW beloved husband of LOUISA FAIRCLOUGH died Nov 1 1946 age 77 LOUISA FAIRCLOUGH, wife of aforesaid died Aug 4 1949, age 80 years RON BAVIS beloved husband of BRENDA died March 5 1996 age 64
Now, I know for sure that this grave is the Thomas Bavis who married Louisa Roberts (nee Dennett), who then went on to marry Matthew Fairclough. Francis was their son but I hadn't heard of Ron before.
There was a grave for GEORGE RICHARD ROY, b. 9 October 1918 and died 28 Jun 1941, age 22, and CATHERINE BAVIS, mother of George Richard Roy, b. 1890 and died 1988.
And another grave of G. W. ROY, S. Lancashire Regiment, b. 1886 in Norfolk and died 2 August 1917, age 30, son of Mr. & Mrs. Roy of Bixley, Norfolk, husband of Catherine Bavis (formerly Roy) of 60 Gaskell Street, St. Helens.
In trying to sort this out, I think that the Catherine Bavis, mother of G. R. Roy is actually Catherine Lacey and there's a marriage to George W. Roy in 1911. George W. Roy died in 1917 and Catherine married Thomas Bavis in 1919 and I think that Thomas Bavis is the son of the Thomas Bavis married to Louisa, and that Ronald is their son. I'm still trying to get my head around it but can you see any flaws in it?

Thanks so much. It gets so confusing when they keep using the same names over and over doesn't it.
You gave a birth reference for Thomas born 1896 but this is not the Thomas who died in 1936. The Thomas who died in 1936 was the husband of Louisa. The Thomas born in 1896 died in 1898 at the age of 2, then Thomas and Louisa had another Thomas born in 1899 who died after about 13 hours. It was the third Thomas who I think married Catherine Roy (nee Lacey).
Told you it was confusing!!
