All details for his father, residence etc are correct. I'm confident about this.

There are several family trees on ancestry but they all seem to have the confusion, if such it be, with the children Caroline, Charles etc.
but we do have the advantage of being able to use the GRO Index.
I can't explain it!

Illustrated Police News 16 July 1910
STRATFORD A BRUTAL ASSAULT William Charles Blake, 33, of City Road, Shoreditch, was charged with assaulting his wife Emma. He was further charged with assaulting William Lewis, a French polisher of Cassiobury Road, Walthamstow.
It seems that some ten years ago Mrs Blake was seperated from her husband on the grounds of cruelty, and for the last 7 years had been living with Lewis...
The prisoner pleaded that he went to the house to see his children and finding Lewis with his wife he got wild...
The Bench reminded the prisoner that he had not troubled about his children in many years and it was clear he did not want to see them...

Thank's Sylvia, that does help.
Austin - the newspaper article is a brilliant find! Was it on FMP?
I'd seen the census before logging off and thought that might be relevant. Child Henry could well be a Lewis rather than a Blake! I've a lot of deleting to do.
As we're now more of less happy with Emily's 1911, is it possible to find them in 1901? Was William Charles in prison for the 1911?

Yes, article was FMP.
I'll see if I can find any of them in 1901 (and William Charles in 1911)
- William Charles got 4 months hard labour on July 1910- so he was likely a free man by the time of the census (as long as he was good!)

Not sure who the Mrs G Blake is, unless she was Albert's wife. Albert death 13 Aug 1917 & is recorded on YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL. Husband of Gertrude Blake, of 38, Hartington Rd., Station Rd., Walthamstow, London.

ArgyllGran - Sister in law is probably more like it.
Austin - so sorry you're feeling under the weather. You must be one of those people who are attractive to biters. OH is like that - we do wonder if he has too much sugar in his blood!
To anyone still around, can you find the GRO entry for child Henry? I'm sure I found it last night with several middle names. Its hiding now. :-|
Added - found the one I was thinking off, but its not Henry.
Name: Mother's Maiden Surname: Order: BLAKE, WILLIAM JOHN TURNBULL FRANKE GRO Reference: 1906 S Quarter in WEST HAM Volume 04A Page 467
It might have been one of the 3 children who'd died.

What surname did you think you'd found him under?
I do wish it was possible to search the GRO site without specifying the child's surname!
