Find Ancestors

Once again I'm after some well hidden information for a living relative, looking for their ancestor.

Robert Moat born circa 1847 in North Shields or Tynemouth. I have him on two census returns in 1891 and 1901 living in Tynemouth with his wife Sarah.

It is Sarah who is the mystery as her place of birth is given as France (British Citizen) and I'm looking for a record of her birth and confirmation of her maiden name? Not sure hoe you trace the birth record of a British Citizen born in a foreign country?

I've found a wedding on FreeBMD for a Robert Moat marrying a Sarah GRINSON in Q1 of 1871, in Tynemouth. They have a son Thomas William Moat born in 1872, so I think it's the right couple.

Any extra info about Sarah and Robert and their parents would be appreciated.

I've now managed to find Sarah's first marriage, her husband was dead just over two years later. They had a daughter Mary M Grinson by the look of it. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

A Mary Cullis giving birth at 16 years old to Maria, hence no fathers name on the record, in the same village of Broseley.. Makes sense to me. She wasn't the first and won't be the last!
