The first element of the local ref is a code for the church (or subdistrict for Bs and Ds)
The second element of the local ref is a register sequence number for that code
The third element of the local ref is an entry number or a page number. Marrs usually have an entry number.

S Tyneside has a web page that's a key for decoding their marr locations, but here we're left guessing.
C-3 looks like a CofE church, and the registrar's own rego usually begins with an R, but it's W here.

For instance. the modern RD of Wigan & Leigh contains 3 former RDs, Wigan, Leigh and Ince and uses the codes ROW, ROL, ROI.
The registrar's own rego's don't just contain rego office marrs.
Up to 1898, only C of E, jews and quakers were authorized to keep official marr rego's, so a marr in a non-conformist church would need a registrar (or assistant) to attend with an official marr rego for the couple to sign to complete the ceremony.
After 1898, non-conformists could apply to be authorized to keep official marr rego's. Approval could take a couple of years, although RCs chose not to apply until 1980-ish.

Local B & D rego's had 500 entries - 5 per page.

Just found a 1816 marriage record for a Mary Culliss in the same church as Maria's baptism. Mary marries a Thomas Francis, doesn't mean he's Maria's father or even if it's the same Mary Culliss, but it does make you wonder?

I've now managed to find Sarah's first marriage, her husband was dead just over two years later. They had a daughter Mary M Grinson by the look of it. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
