His parents' marriage. He was a seaman RN of 50 Mount Street. Samuel Hellyer and Louisa Wilson were witnesses. His father was a shoemaker and hers was a shipwright.

08 October 1914 - Western Times - Exeter, Devon, England

Offence At East Stonehouse
William Henry McDowell, 71, seaman, pleaded guilty to an offence at East Stonehouse on May 20th, 1912. It was stated, that the accused, after the offence disappeared for some time until found at Devonport and was arrested. He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.
