Where did you find the info re Alexandra's birth? I can't see any sign of her on either Scotlands People or FamilySearch.

The mcdwells listed above + william john mcdowell b 1766 ireland m sarah barber is what another relative found on ancestry I thought alexandra was a male ??

so I dont know if they are correct or not

You say at the start that John McDowell born 1734 died in Devon

There is nothing to support that on FMP

No record of a baptism in Devon for William c1793....................have you anything to prove that he was born in the county?

I dont have time to go through them now as I have to go out

but as I said I have all my mcdowells in devon but not any before 1792

There's no birth in Scotland in 1610 for an Alexander McDowell (or other spelling of surname) .

Perhaps you mean 1670?
This one has the same parents as the William and Patrick births posted on 26th July by Malyon:
