That expansion of the marriage details that Chris has just given to the Horrocks-Prunty/Prenty marriage I posted would tie in with Joseph George Horrocks being a military birth as Gritty posted.

I think that once widowed Elizabeth married John Murphy, she presumably moved to Nynee Tal, and Joseph George used the surname of his stepfather, John Murphy, or at least combined the two, his birth father and his stepfather's.

This is the man who was Elizabeth's father, but is he the same man who served in the 52nd?? The service number is peculiar to the regiment, so that's no help.

Again, groom is widowed, and occupation 'Survey of India'. One wonders, did possible sister Elizabeth meet her second husband John Murphy through Patrick, if they both worked as surveyors?
