Blimey Kucinta. You have been a very busy bee. There is so much additional unknown info you have found my friend is going to be over the moon.
The most important thing you, Chris and Gritty (thank you both) found was an explanation for the Horrocks-Murphy surname which was, and is, used in subsequent generations.
I cannot thank you enough for your help Kucinta

Edit: There is also a Patrick Prunty in the survey dept who I believe might be a son of Patrick, and a brother or half brother to Elizabeth.

This is the man who was Elizabeth's father, but is he the same man who served in the 52nd?? The service number is peculiar to the regiment, so that's no help.

I think Patrick may have had had a wife previous to Ann, mother of Thomas, and that this is also his child, and a sister to Elizabeth. If so, Patrick served in the 52nd Infantry before the Fusiliers.:

That expansion of the marriage details that Chris has just given to the Horrocks-Prunty/Prenty marriage I posted would tie in with Joseph George Horrocks being a military birth as Gritty posted.
I think that once widowed Elizabeth married John Murphy, she presumably moved to Nynee Tal, and Joseph George used the surname of his stepfather, John Murphy, or at least combined the two, his birth father and his stepfather's.

Having just looked through the will for Mary, that I sent you, looks like Alice was her third daughter, Elizabeth her second, and she had an eldest daughter named Mary Ann who was the widow of a Captain John Galvin of The Indian Subordinate Medical Service.
She describes daughter Elizabeth Bedford as deceased and leaves money for masses to be saiid in la Chapelle Montligeon in France for the souls of herself, her husband, her sons (plural) and her deceased daur Elizabeth.
She says she is also unable to read and write English manuscript
This looks to be Mary Ann's marriage, aged 16:
First name(s) John Last name Galvin Marriage year 1873 Marriage date 9 Jan 1873 Spouse's first name Mary Ann<<<<<<<<<<< Spouse's last name Hexter<<<<<<<<<< Place Naini Tal Presidency Bengal Groom's age 25 Bride's age 16 Groom's father's first name John Groom's father's last name - Bride's father's first name - Bride's father's last name - Catalogue description Parish register transcripts from the Presidency of Bengal, : 1713-1948 Archive reference N-1-143 Folio number 365 Entry number - Record set British India Office marriages
Her father's name is not listed on the image.
Husband John Galvin died 1908:
First name(s) John Last name Galvin Birth year 1845 Death date 04 Oct 1908 Death year 1908 Age 63 Burial date 05 Oct 1908 Place Naini Tal Presidency Bengal Archive Reference N-1-353 Folio - Page 254 Catalogue Description Parish register transcripts from the Presidency of Bengal, : 1713-1948 Record set British India Office deaths & burials
Image says cause of death was cancer of the liver.
Elizabeth bedford nee Hexter also died in 1908:
First name(s) Elizabeth Cecilia Last name Bedford Birth year 1866 Death date 07 Aug 1908 Death year 1908 Age 42 Burial date 08 Aug 1908 Place Hazaribaugh Presidency Bengal Archive Reference N-1-351 Folio - Page 140 Catalogue Description Parish register transcripts from the Presidency of Bengal, : 1713-1948 Record set British India Office deaths & burials Category Birth, Marriage, Death & Parish Records
On the image she is described as the wife of Nolan Bedford (her second marriage, already posted on this thread), and the cause of death was cardiac failure.
