can find no walter charles briggs or marriage to elizabeth who seems young so might not be mother of walter aged 8

I can't find them in 1891. There are trees on Ancestry that have Walter Charles W. Briggs born 1882, London but parents are Henry Briggs & Selina Smith.

I do wish posters would stay around for a while so we can get more info. With the info we have its like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I have looked up Elizabeth Briggs Walter Charles both and Charles Walter.

Its Walter Charles Briggs (lets call him Senior) I'm looking into.

He had a son, also Walter Charles (Junior let's say) , the only child I know of, he was born in 1883, based on his age at marriage, possibly in Brighton.

He married in 1915 to Dorothy Lacey in Southampton.

Their marriage cert, Walter and Dorothy's, states his father was a publican but deceased at time of marriage.

Walter (Junior) died in Luton in 1940.

They had one son, my uncle, Edward Charles Blagdon Briggs in 1916 in Ripon.

The only Walter Charles Briggs marriage I can find on freebmd is in Rotherham in 1900 but am unable to find a way to learn the spouses name, apart from another certificate and more expense.

I confess I no longer can recall where I even got the name Elizabeth from as (seniors) spouse so first wife, 2nd or 3rd, who knows.
