Hi
Has anyone any information on Hannah Tomlinson born in Barrow in Furness in 1876.
Her parents were I believe William Tomlinson and Charlotte Shone married Barrow in Furness in1878.
Hannah married Isaac Bell in 1899 and died in Workington Cumbria in 1972.
Hannah was my G Grandmother and despite years of searching I can find no record of her birth.

If she was born 1876 but her parents weren't married until 1878 wouldn't she be registered under mother's maiden name?

So Hannah was born before her parents' marriage so was a Shone and she had a child before her marriage so that child was also a Shone.

There is no record of her birth on Cumbria BMD.

Of course, as she was born before the marriage, she could have been born virtually anywhere...if the mother was 'sent away', as often happened

If not, where did you get the name for Hannah's father?

There is no sign of Hannah on any census prior to her marriage

No births on Cumbria BMD for Tomlinson with MMN Shone....however, as that only covers Barrow at the moment, it may not be significant
