Find Ancestors

James Platt is shown as a scenic artist at the marriage of his daughter Alice Maud to Arnold Thomas Bartlett 3/4/1920, also on the death cert of his wife Alice on 16/2/1916. Alice was 49 when she died. On that basis I am thinking James was probably born 1860 +/-10 years.

My problem is I can find nothing about James. No marriage I can identify nor any census. He was living at 25 Dante Road, Newington, London in 1916.

Any help in finding the elusive James and Alice (his wife) would be hugely appreciated and would undoubtedly stop me going mad!

I thought that maybe you were Margee but I don't want to mislead anyone.

I think we need Gerry to come back and give us a few more details about the family.

It would help if we knew when and where Alice Maud was born. Also, as Gritty has asked, the witnesses at her marriage.

Hi all. Thanks for your interest. As you can see I have nothing that I can make a defffo connection to. House painter is probe the nearest I have but its pretty tenuous.

The daughter Alice Maud was born about 1895, her age being 25 when she married.

The witnesses were Florence Anne Harman and H B Connock

A tree on Ancestry says that the Alice Maud Platt who married Arnold Thomas Bartlett was born 1895.

I agree a scenic artist is a long way from house painter but at the moment its the only albeit remotest connnection to ANYONE.

The Walsall Alice Maud is the only one in the likely date range so I am going to have to bite the bullet and buy the cert and hope her father is a scenic painter!!!
