Thanks. I'm tempted to only send for one certificate - the prices are ridiculous - but after what you said it might be better to have both. Even one bit of info might help solve things. |

Thanks for the heads-up but I do always order from the GRO ... still expensive though. It's always good to put a reminder out there though so people don't get trapped into other expensive ways. I've seen some advertised at over 22 pounds. |

I think William was brought up as a Whitehead although his birth is registered as Mawdsley. Perhaps his nose was a little out of joint when his father re-married or perhaps he just felt that he was obliged to have his recorded birth surname on the birth registrations of his children . |
