There are christenings in Middlewich for Mary (3/9/1855) and James (13/9/1856), both giving father Joseph and mother Ann. There is also one for John 19/4/1859 naming same parents. |

There's also a christening 25/2/1852 in Middlewich for Sarah Simpson (possibly the child on 1851 census), naming father Joseph & mother Ann. |

Probably someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think it was not legal to marry a deceased spouses sibling at that time. Possibly Joseph and Ann never married but still has the same surname. |

There is a possible marriage for them in Warrington (previously posted) Simpson/Simpson - so maybe they did it out of area? And Jacqueline is right it was not legal to marry your brother-in-law at the time. |
