I think I have come to a full stop with Sarah though - I can't seem to find her on 1841 so if you want to go back any further with her, I think the next step has to be one of her marriage certs.

From Christine:Thanx for that info. It ties up with what I already have. But can u ferret out Margaret allen's original family. Her father was William Allen on wedding certificate, but I can' t find Margaret Allen born in Blackburn with a family of allen's. This means I can't find her mums / siblings names and can't delve further back Thanx in anticipation xx
the mystery deepens …...
