It's quite a common name. Do you have any details of his wife/children and his occupation?

Sorry - At this moment all I know is that I have a relative called Ann Hunt born 1820 Canon Frome, Herefordshire who gives the name John Southall as her father on the marriage parish records. Her mother was Hannah Hunt . I dont know if Hannah Hunt & John Southall were ever married? Or exactly what the Hunt / Southall connection is - this is what I am trying to discover - starting with the 1841 census

Right area & name to be Johns father - so quite possible - thanks Maddie. I will'file it' for future ref.

This John Southall born Canon Frome 1797 - is quite an elusive character isnt he?

Not in 1841 census - not in 1851 census..........I assume that he hasnt died as a child? ( ie I may have had the wrong 'father' for my Ann Hunt ).......

One final look in the 1861 census would be appreciated - just in case he is around.

At least THIS Johns sister was a farmer ! 27 acres - quite small - but still a farmer!
