I am trying to help a friend find more about her great grandmother Martha Davison .She is on 1871 and 1891 census with her parents Enoch and Jane Davison and some siblings in Spilsby ,lincs . But we'd like to know where she was working in 1881 ;her proffession is given as domestic servant on birth certificate of first son William Thomas in 1883 . |

Apparently Martha returned to domestic service and the grandparents brought up young Willie . She had another son Frederick in 1887 and married John Winter Hempstock in 1888 they had a further 2 sons; sydney winter and John Henry(jack) . her husband took the 2nd child on but not Willie . There is a theory that Willie was the son of a member of the BIg house but as I can't find martha davison anywhere on the 1881 census I don't know who else lived there . |

sorry Reggie yes i was wondering what Fernley's first name was . William doesn't fit but i suppose he could have gone by his middle name if J stands for james. thanks for the baptism details i don't think my friend knew where her grandfather + great grand mother were baptised . I'm off to give her all this information now . |

Was Sydney Winter Hempstock a child of Martha?? He appears on the 1891 census as Grandchild of Seth and Probable son of Alice. |
