Hi, I have very limited information from my file from the children society. It states that Victor (my brother) was called Victor Worthington. It does not ever refer to him as any other name. The address given in my file where my mother was residing at the time of my birth was 51 Denzil Road, Willesdean. I am overwhelmed by all your responses and so very grateful. As I said before I'm not terribly computer literate and really am now quite confused. Where do I go from here? The likelihood then is I have two cousin's? son's of Josephine and of course I am still searching for these people, the two boy's of Josephine and of course my brother victor. |

As advised..........buy the Josephine Dudley death cert for info about the person who registered the death............and, of course, confirmation that it is the right woman |

I had help once from a librarian who had retired. She applied for a marriage certificate which she thought was that of my mother's to an Arthur Worthington. She thought this would give her the name of my grandfather. It was a false lead and she received information from Anthony Pacitti to say that his brother was Vittorio pacitti who died in august 2009. This was not my brother as this man was the son of Luigi and Teresa not Rose. |

my brother was definitely called Victor Worthington not Vittorio. Maybe the Victor that married Kathleen as above ? 51 Denzil Road was where my mother resided with her sister Josephine as this is in my adoption records. |

Hi Peter... I think I am right in saying that the information in your file is only as good as the informant who was probably your mother. I think that your mother gave birth to Vittorio Pacitti in the September quarter of 1946. In the December quarter of 1947 she married Alfred H Worthington (you put Arthur in your post above) and he, Alfred, took on the baby who would have been about a year, as his own. It was not uncommon to change the childs surname to that of the new husband, Worthington. I also think that Vittorio was changed to Victor. Vittorio went well with Pacitti and the italin connection but not well with Worthington. By the time you were born this boy would have been nine years old which fits in with what you say in your opening post. I assume that your mother was married to Alfred at the time of your birth even though he was not your father. |

Hi, a letter was sent to the Vittorio Pacitti but unfortunately a response came from Vittorio's brother saying that Vittorio died in 2009. He said Vittorio has been born on 4th feb 1941, son of lungi and Teresa so not the son of rose (my mother). I have no reason to believe that Victor's name was ever Vittorio but my files do say that indeed she met and married mr Worthington when Victor was 1 yrs old. It says that Victor resided at 43 review road, Dagenham, Essex whilst my mother was in a mother an baby home with me during her confinement (Amhurst Lodge, Ealing) |

Very true. Thank you. How complex and confusing it all is :(. There is also mention in my documents of a Mary Pacitti (perhaps a grandmother) I can't quite make out the address but it looks like 32 Radfern Road, Houlesden? She was aged 65 on this document which was signed in sept 1956 |
