the son who died was his beloved... its my guess it was his eldest.. From what I was told, he either worked or was apprentice on the docks. He apprentley dived into the Thames near a boat, to retrieve something but was caught in an undertow. This lead to Georges uncontrollable grief and I think he went into a decline and lost his job as foreman. Again, heresay. it sort of fits the story with him then turning up as a coal porter again!

Ah MC...didn't think she was on 1901 census but she's out of order right at the bottom!

This would fit with the death MC posted above....leaving the missing birth (to make the 10th) being also the death we are looking for??

Carol - who is researching the same man?

Carol

Carol Report 30 Jun 2013 21:26

As I said I am very new to this, I wondered if both you and Jude were researching George Clarke?

Hi Carol - no, it's highly unlikely that any of the researchers on here would be connected to the families that people ask about.

We're just nosy people who like poking about in other peoples families! Often because we're at the end of our tethers with our own research.

MC - :-D

Funnily though while I was poking my nose into Carol's George Clark I was in fact researching my OWN George Clark (born and died Wolverhampton) :-)

Carol, nothing to feel a twerp about! (Oh, I do like that word, haven't heard it for ages!)

I don't have a George Clark in my tree but wouldn't mind researching the one who does Restoration Man.
