Hi I am trying to find some family details for Charles Fred Livesey and his daughter Harriet Lucy Livesey the family lived in Shanghai for many years.
Charles died there in 1945 he was in an internee camp when it was bombed
.
Harriet born 1913 Shanghai was 18 years old when she married John Harrison Howard in 1931 San Jose . I would love to know if they went on to have any children. or when they died.
regards
Ian

Hello Ian, have you searched the US census on FamilySearch?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 19 Jun 2013 20:35

I see he was quite a bit older than her:

U.S., Consular Reports of Marriages, 1910-1949

Name: Harriet Lucy Livesey
Age: 18
Birth Year: abt 1913
Birth Place: Shanghai, China
Spouse's Name: John Harrison Howard
Spouse's Age: 35
Spouse's Birth Year: abt 1896
Spouse's Birth Place: San Jose, California
Marriage Date: 1 Sep 1931
Marriage Place: Church of The Sacred Heart, Shanghai, China
Consular Location: Shanghai, China
File Number: 133
Certificate in File: Yes

They didn't marry in San Jose, they married Shanghai according to this. San Jose is where he was from.

ADDED:
You can search New York arrivals between 1892 and 1924 for free on Ellis Island

Web: International, Find A Grave Index
Name: Charles Frederick Livesey

Commonwealth War Graves Commission has him as age 59 at death so that's consistent with that passenger list.

Ian, I never bother registering, I just go straight to the search. You don't need to subscribe.

You could buy his marriage certificate from GRO to see what details he gives for his father.
