I am trying to find records for Agnes Duncan born 19-1-1901 in Dumfries&Galloway.Died 1966 Gateside cottage irongray.Thank you.

Scottish bmds for that time can only be found on scotlandspeople site, which is a pay to view site. The charges are very reasonable - £7 for 30 credits; it costs one credit to view search results and a further 5 credits to view the image but the images are of original entries and can be downloaded so much cheaper than English certs.

Do you have Agnes's death cert as this would give details of her parents.

Are you sure about her DOB - the address is correct on this one. You really need to look at either her death or birth cert to confirm parents' names:

Assuming "Irongray" is in Scotland, the Death certificate will name her parents, spouse, if any, and the informant - often a relation.

There was an Agnes Duncan born 14 Jan 1901 in Gateside Cottages, Irongray, Kirkcudbrightshire. She was registered 31 Jan 1901.
Robert Duncan, ploughman and Jessie Mary MS Dockray were the parents. They had married in Irongray 2 June 1896.


Did she marry, as I can't find a death in 1966 for her?

They were wed at Irongray 2 June 1896.

Agnes Duncan died 1987 aged 86 mothers maiden name Dockray husbands name Mowbray district Pitlochry, perth GRO: 383/00 0068

She married John Mowbray a widower on 9 December 1932 at The Lodge, Royal soldiers home, Colinton road, Colinton, Edinburgh.
His father was. John Mowbray, a gardener and mother was. Hannah Gillespie.

Hello again George again than you so much for your trouble.Can I impose on you again?I,ve been trying this morning to find death record of JOHN MOWBRAY.When iput in details that I found on marriage entry and click it comes up as no record.i am doing these searches for my brother inlaw.according to what he was told years ago his g mother Agnes was married to a JOHN KEENAN.Icant find marriage record for this.Which is why I was trying to find above death record.Iwonder if this LODGE THE ROYAL SOLDIERS HOME was for injured soldiers.I note he was only 23yrs.

Blairgowrie isn't far from Pitlochry where Agnes died.

Is the Agnes who is said to have married John Keenan the same Agnes who married John Mowbray?

Hardly likely to have lived with another man after John Mowbray's death - she would have been 83 when he died. Possibly she and John Mowbray split up earlier and she lived with John Keenan? Is you brother-in-law descended from John Keenan?

Yes that,s likely Potty.my brother-in-law is descended from agnes.I noticed her name wasent on John Mowbray,s death record.Itried to access Agnes.s son,s records both birth and death . He was Thomas Seaton Duncan born 1921 in Hollywood Dumfries.Brother-in-law states he used to live with Agnes in Lochmaben Dumfries That would be 50or so yrs ago and that she died 1966,which has got me worried that above Agnes married to john Mowbray may be wrong.kind regards Mary.
