Hello I'm trying to find details of GGG Grandfather Edward Liddiard around 1800. Berkshire/Wilkshire. Been looking for proof that he lost his first wife Mary and remarried a Sarah, hence he had two sets of children. My GG Grandfather being Henry born Hungerford 1823.

This looks like the marriage of Henry & Leah in the 1841:
Marriages Mar 1840 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BARRET George Hungerford 6 257 LIDDIARD Henry Hungerford 6 257 NEW Sarah Hungerford 6 257 RALPH Leah Hungerford 6 257
but a tree on Ancestry has that Henry as dying in a shipwreck in 1851

Could this be Henry's marriage to Phillis - she was born Herts according to the 1861 census posted earlier:
Henry Liddiard Age: Full Age Spouse Name: Phillis Ashby Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 12 Jun 1854 Parish: St Andrew by the Wardrobe Borough: City of London Father Name: Edward Liddiard Spouse Father Name: William Ashby Register Type: Parish Register
I think he was a corn merchant, but image is not very good. But the date ties in well with their oldest child from the census

Looks like 2 Henry's christened around the right time, this one could be your Henry:
Henry Liddiard Gender: Male Christening Date: 20 Aug 1826 Christening Place: Aldbourne, Wiltshire, England Father's Name: Edward Liddiard Mother's name: Mary
The other one christened in Nov, father James, mother Anne. It could be his marriage to Leah and subsequent death in a shipwreck.
Really need some feedback from Colin to know if we have the right Henry.
Added: Forget this, I've just noticed it is Wiltshire, not Berkshire - think I'm cracking up :-0

Hi Colin, welcome back to your thread, thought you'd got lost ;-)
So, is the marriage & christening for Henry the right one? What about the 1841 census - do you think that is possibly the right Edward?

If 1841 is correct, then Ann (or Mary Ann) has died by 1851 and Edward is with Harriett as posted earlier. If you notice, one child on that census is Albert and Harriett is with him after Edward's death as his step-mother:
Harriet Liddiard Age: 76 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1805 Relation: Step Mother Gender: Female Where born: Burbage, Wiltshire, England Civil parish: Hungerford County/Island: Berkshire Country: England Street Address: London Road Nursery Condition as to marriage: Windower (Widower) Education:

If on the right track, think this is his re-marriage although rather a lot of entries for 1 marriage!

Yes, I received your message, but it's best to keep to the thread so others may be able to help - we all have different subscriptions and knowledge of different records - so something I miss may be picked up by others.
You think Henry's mother may have been Mary Ann or Marianne - but I'm not finding anything on this in the records on familysearch or ancestry.
There's no date for the marriage to Harriet, it was from freebmd which just records the quarter/year, and doesn't give their maritial status or ages at time of marriage. The only way to verify if it is correct is to order the marriage certificate from GRO
