I am having difficulty tracking any info about my grandfather who was born 18th Jan 1887 and married Maud Durrant in 1914 in Lowestoft,Suffolk. There seems to be no trace of his birth on GR, he always said he was from Wivenhoe in Essex. I believe his father was Charles King, and that is as far as I can go. Can anyone help please? |

His marriage cert should name his father if known. |

If he was from Wivenhoe, but different year. It is the only one in the 1880's. |

Maybe his family lived in Essex for a time so he thought that was where he was born |

Thank you. I have the marriage certificate which states his father's name, but he doesn't appear anywhere either, apart from where he lived in 1914. If I could find his mother's name I might be able to get a bit further, unfortunately mother's name is not on certificate. I don't know if records office would help on electoral roll? |

If you buy his marriage cert, you'll find out if he knew his father's details, plus, the info about Frederick's occupation should help with locating him in 1911 census. |

Probably right. Just because he lived there it doesn't mean to say he was born there! I shall see if I can get the birth certificate for that one, even if it eliminates that birth reg. Thanks for your help.I shall now try and contact companies for that. Will let you know if I am lucky. |

Thank you people again. I do believe he had a brother named Ernest so this may be him. I did get birth date from death index as well as from my mother. Will now try and track down some certificates. I might be on the right path thanks to you all. That side of my tree has been bare for some time. |
