Sorry about that, of course the aunt is on line 003, not 006. |

Had another look through the passenger list and it is the following person that is noted as being on List No.51, line 003:- |

MC: actually I don't know if she was married before or after she came to the US. I think perhaps at the time I couldn't find any infor under the name "Christy" and when I went to the NYC archives I was able to see the origianl marriage cert for her and James Barnshaw and was surprised to see a previous marriage listed for her. She was only about 17 when she arrived here, but I have another g aunt who was married at 14 in Scotland so I couldn't rule out the possiblity. I couldn't find info in the archives for a previous marriage. In retrospect, it may be that the first marriage was outside the 5 boros. |

MC...In a nut shell yes...but I am not convinced that its them as the notation is definately on line 2 ...but it does have a scribble crossed out which looks like "mothers aunt" then niece written above ..plus page and line ref....anyway I managed to decifer Brids.address in Philadelphia 60 N.2 St.!! |

Using a ruler and a sharp pencil I've now convinced myself that Mary Giles is indeed the travelling aunt. (Not an arcane ritual, I printed off the manifest and aligned the dotted lines). |

I cant believe we have diverted so far from the original quest of trying to find Margaret Christy's first husband....!! |

Perserverance !!! |

I don't think we have diverted too far, there's the hope that the aunt travelling in 1908 is a connection to the first husband ..... |

It may have been rare, but hadn't her mother died that year? Perhaps she wanted to go back to see the family? |

No her mother died in 1908, she left her daughter with her mother. But maybe her 1st husband had died and thats why she came home. |

Maura: my tree is not accurate. I trying to update as I can. I have a lot of paper records to reconcile against. I'm not certain about Eugene Christy b 1871 and James b 1862 which you listed as children of Thomas and Margaret. where did their info come from? |
