Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jan 2013 10:11

Morning,

The 1901 post I put up about Percy Baker Jackson, on the actual census form it does read Ultimus but is transcribed as William.

The other thing is that Ultimus could be an old spelling of William anyway as I have had a Guilimus in a tree somewhere which was the old spelling of Willliam.

Adeline Report 3 Jan 2013 10:34

Ultimus is the Latin for "last" and Gulielmus the Latin for William.

Marriages Jun 1923 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Farrell Annie W M Jackson Derby 7b 1251
Jackson Laurence G Farrell Derby 7b 1251

(not sure if above fits)

Although, 1911 for Ultimus, says 12 children born, 11 living, 1 died.

Thanks everyone. I have now printed out this info so do I leave this thread or delete it & start a new one later ? Ultimus meaning Last in Latin makes sense as mother was then 44 so she probably thought That's it ! No more !

Best to leave it Kathleen, then any further queries relating, we can refer back.

On left side, under heading 'Tools', you will find it in 'My Threads'.

(you certainly have a lot of names there to work with, lol)

Why is it I cannot find a Kinvig family in the 1901 Isle of Man census ? I already have the info but I want to check one person & I can get nothing on GR. Ann 44, Herbert 20, John 13 & the person I want to check - a 4 year old boy John Clugstone who was 'adopted' by Ann Kinvig. I would like to find out if it said 'adopted' & then find him on the 1911 census. I have this family on my CD rom but why can I not get it on this site ? Thanks

GR isn't the best place to do research. They don't have any records of their own.......all are taken from other sources

The people who help on these boards use other sites.

This is from Ancestry..............

Thanks. I wonder if John Herbert Clugston(e) took the name Kinvig from his adopted family for the 1911 census. I thought GR would be a good site but obviously Ancestry sounds more informative.
